Our inaugural release for 2023 unveils an album by Trackscan, marking the commencement of our multi-part live series (L). A distinctive characteristic of this series is that each album (identified with an "L") is performed live using analog equipment and recorded directly to tape – sans any computer intervention – followed by digital mastering that preserves the raw and unpolished essence without post-processing.
"Analog noise, fragmentary synthlines, and raw basses breathe life into the performative aspects of hip hop and instrumental beats. With this album, Trackscan distances himself from prevailing clinical and orderly clichés or trends, delving instead into the gritty depths of (dubish) live tape-recorded monotonous beats and bass lines, crafting a hypnotic and timeless atmosphere. The beats, melodies, and sounds are inherently unique, yet they conjure a pleasant 'audiomind-déjà vu,' blending recognizable audio fragments with mental images as you listen.
